There's a side strap that goes from the ankle strap to the sole of the shoe near the arch. It is attached to the sole with a little piece of elastic. This strap is rather loose on me and curving away from my foot about half and inch. I'm thinking of taking them to a shoemaker to tack down the strap and remove the elastic, although someone with a different shaped foot may need the flexibility.
This side strap isn't needed for the structure of the shoe as the ankle strap is sturdy and holds the sandal on, and seems to be there as a matter of style. I expect I'll forget about the looseness after wearing the sandals a few times.

I got the snake ones and my feet are sssss about 5 slim and these shoes fit tightly. First time ever to find shoes that tight on my feet. Strap across is a tad short but it works. They are not the most stylish in the world but comfort counts for something.

I bought this sandal in black and liked the fit so much I bought another pair in the brown/black combo.
I wear an 8.5 AAAA and this fits perfect. The ankle strap was exactly the right length for my ankle. No extra flapping in the wind.

Along with being great stylish sandals, they are offered in SS....awesome!! I tried one pair, and came back for more colors!! They needed no break in time...love the all leather lining...so soft and can wear with all day comfort. Keep making styles available in SS...I am sold on this brand.

The strap is a little bit short over my high instep. I can wear it, but I'd rather not have some velcro exposed to pick up lint and cat fur. I'm thinking of covering the part that isn't covered when fastened with something black. The sandal is very classy looking, however.

I have only worn them once however I expected some break-in time that did not occur. They were very comfortable from the minute I put them on and worn them for five hours. They were a little pricy but I expect to get a couple of seasons out of them.
