The Beauty and The Basketball Player
I don’t know what it is, but I’m blindsided by pretty much every celebrity divorce I see. As common as break-ups are in Hollywood, you would think I’d be used to it by now. I guess I’m either a hopeless romantic or hopelessly naïve! Either way, when TMZ released a story stating that Eva Longoria and Tony Parker would be divorcing I didn’t believe it. When the story was confirmed with an actual filing a few days later I was still surprised! The twosome seemed like such a down-to-earth, away from the spotlight, ‘normal’ couple.
Mario Lopez, a friend of Eva’s, has spoken to the press alleging that Tony has been unfaithful. In fact, rumors are swirling that Tony had an affair with the wife of one of his former teammates, Erin Barry. Erin and her husband Brent also recently filed for divorce. The Parkers and the Barry look to have been friends, with Eva and Erin cheering on their husbands side-by-side at basketball games. It’s always hard to see a marriage end, but especially unfortunately when the cause appears to be so one-sided. Fox Sports put out a report this afternoon that Parker may even have been trying to pick up a British model as recently as last week.
I don’t get it. Eva Longoria is a beautiful, successful actress. She is supportive of charities and seems to be a real and honest person. It’s too bad that Tony didn’t appreciate what he had right in front of him! The happy couple appeared on Ellen mid-October, with Tony surprising his wife on set and the two cuddling up together for part of the interview, looking adorable and very much in love. Maybe the twosome will have a change of heart and be able to work through their issues together.
I have to say, one of the things that impressed me the most about the couple’s appearance on Ellen was Eva’s arm! She was trying to dunk Tony in a dunk tank to raise money for breast cancer research, throwing softballs at a bulls-eye in sky-high stiletto heels. She threw hard and accurately from a good distance away, and didn’t seem slowed down by a lack of sensible, athletic shoes. Perhaps she would have had even better luck in a pair of flat, black, knee high boots like the ones she wore to a recent lunch at the beautiful Villa Blanca in Beverly Hills (see above photo).
If you’re looking for something similar to these boots, check out the Report Sydney Boot. The ribbon adds a cute, feminine touch. Should you want a little more slouch, take a look at the Zigi Effie Boot. It can also be worn cuffed – one boot, two looks! If you live in a colder climate (like me!) but still want to look good, I would recommend the Madden Girl Lacosta Boot. With a faux-fur trim, it will help keep your feet toasty warm without sacrificing style.
